Nigerian fintech powerhouse PalmPay has announced plans to expand its operations in South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire, Uganda and Tanzania by the end of 2025, opening new doors for seamless transactions in the booming igaming scene.

Unveiled by Managing Director Chika Nwosu at a press briefing on Wednesday, the expansion builds on PalmPay’s explosive success in Nigeria, where the app processed over 15 million daily transactions in the first quarter of 2025 alone.

With more than 35 million users in Nigeria and a slick “super app” offering, PalmPay is positioning itself as a game-changer in the digital payments space.

This move signals a major play to dominate fintech across Africa.

“The expansion may pave the way for a future public listing,” he reportedly said.

For igamers tired of clunky, slow or limited payment options, PalmPay could be the solution. Its robust app integrates payments, banking, investments and insurance, with partnerships that enable features like interest-earning accounts, access to treasury bills and even Verve-powered debit cards, with five million expected to hit the market by end-2025.

In 2024, PalmPay shelled out ₦4bn ($2.4m) in interest to nine million users through its wealth product, highlighting both user trust and capital volume. For online gamblers, that kind of financial backing spells one thing: reliable transactions and swift payouts.

Of course, PalmPay’s move into markets like South Africa and Uganda pits it against heavyweight rivals such as MTN’s MoMo, TymeBank and Airtel. But with its proven ability to scale and execute in Nigeria, it may just have what it takes to shake up the payment scene for igaming platforms across the continent.

   See also:

See also: Betting platforms in Nigeria are integrating local payment gateways

Nigerian fintech giant PalmPay gears up to enter four new markets, offering igamers a fresh, fast and reliable way to play and pay.

Nigerian fintech giant PalmPay is set to expand its operations into South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire, Uganda, and Tanzania by the end of 2025, aiming to provide enhanced payment solutions for the burgeoning iGaming sector.
