South Africa.- South Africa’s National Lottery has more than R257m (US$14.3m) in unclaimed prize money<\/strong> across multiple games, with players urged to come forward and claim outstanding winnings before claim deadlines expire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n As of mid-July, the total value of unclaimed National Lottery winnings stood at more than R257m, according to Briefly News.\u00a0Sizekhaya\u00a0Holdings officially assumed operation of South Africa’s National Lottery on June 1, succeeding\u00a0Ithuba\u00a0as the country’s fourth National Lottery operator, with claims for all winning ITHUBA-era tickets reopening on June 10 <\/a>to allow the new operator to process outstanding prize claims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On July 16, East Coast Radio reported that an unclaimed PowerBall Second Division prize worth R509,925.30 (US$28,400) is due to expire on July 18. According to the broadcaster, the winning ticket was purchased through the ABSA Banking App<\/strong> for the July 18 2025 Powerball draw. The winning numbers were 5, 21, 26, 28 and 39, with PowerBall 6, and players who purchased tickets through the banking platform have been urged to review their accounts before the claim period ends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Under National Lottery rules, prizes must be claimed within 365 days of the draw date<\/strong>. Once the claim period expires, unclaimed prize money is transferred to the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF), where it is used to support charitable organisations and community development initiatives across South Africa.
