Botswana.- The Botswana Gambling Authority<\/strong> delivered a responsible gambling presentation to teachers at Tsabong Unified Secondary School<\/strong> on Monday, July 6, as part of its public awareness programme aimed at promoting early education on gambling-related risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Authority, the presentation focused on responsible gambling principles, the potential risks associated with gambling, the self-exclusion options available to people experiencing gambling-related harm, and the importance of early awareness and prevention. The session was designed to equip teachers with information to help them identify potential concerns, promote informed decision-making, and support learners through education and guidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative seeks to increase public awareness of gambling-related risks while encouraging safe and informed participation among adults. Although gambling is a legal and regulated activity in Botswana, the Authority continues to emphasise that it should be approached responsibly to minimise the risk of financial, social and psychological harm. It also encourages individuals who struggle to control their gambling to make use of self-exclusion programmes and other available support services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By working directly with educators, the regulator said it is extending responsible gambling education beyond licensed gambling venues into community settings, where awareness can be introduced at an earlier stage. Teachers are often among the first professionals to observe behavioural changes in young people, making them important partners in identifying risks and promoting preventive education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Authority added that the initiative strengthens collective efforts to build a culture of responsible gambling through education and community awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presentation forms part of the regulator\u2019s ongoing responsible gambling outreach programme, under which it engages schools, communities and other stakeholder groups to increase awareness of gambling-related risks, promote responsible gambling practices and encourage the use of self-exclusion and support services where needed.<\/p>\n\n\n
