It added that discussions had been held with ITHUBA regarding its financial and operational position before the company confirmed its closure.

Despite ending its operations, ITHUBA remains legally required to fulfil its obligations under the National Lottery licence, concession agreement and applicable laws, according to the regulator. NLGRB said it is supervising the process to safeguard the interests of players, prize claimants, retailers, employees, the government and other affected stakeholders.

The Board added that player balances, outstanding prize claims, operational records and other liabilities arising from National Lottery operations remain under its regulatory oversight while it works with ITHUBA and relevant institutions to complete the transition in an orderly and legally compliant manner.

Players with outstanding balances or unclaimed prizes have been instructed to contact ITHUBA Uganda through its official customer support channels as the settlement of valid claims continues. The regulator said further public updates will be issued where necessary.

ITHUBA launched Uganda’s National Lottery in June 2024 after securing a long-term concession from the Ministry of Finance in 2023.
