{"id":28068,"date":"2026-07-03T03:18:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-03T06:18:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/?p=28068"},"modified":"2026-07-06T01:44:03","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T04:44:03","slug":"women-in-gaming-secures-support-from-kenyas-gambling-regulatory-authority","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/women-in-gaming-secures-support-from-kenyas-gambling-regulatory-authority","title":{"rendered":"Women in Gaming secures support from Kenya&#8217;s Gambling Regulatory Authority\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Industry body expands workplace wellness and mentorship&nbsp;programme&nbsp;following engagement with Kenya&#8217;s gaming regulator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Kenya.- The Women in Gaming Association&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;East Africa has secured support from the <strong>Gambling Regulatory Authority<\/strong> (GRA) of Kenya as it expands workplace wellness and mentorship programme across the region&#8217;s regulated gaming industry.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The association recently met with the regulator to present its mission,&nbsp;vision&nbsp;and strategic plans, with discussions focused on empowering <strong>women in the gaming sector<\/strong> through professional development,&nbsp;education&nbsp;and employee wellbeing initiatives.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the meeting, the association said it outlined plans to engage business-to-consumer (B2C) gaming operators across Kenya, creating opportunities for women employed in the industry to access mentorship and support&nbsp;programmes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0organisation\u00a0said the Gambling Regulatory Authority welcomed the initiative. Director general <strong>Peter Maina Karimi<\/strong> noted that the regulator has a\u00a0significant number\u00a0of women employees who could\u00a0benefit\u00a0from the proposed workplace wellness and mentorship sessions. The authority also invited the association to extend the\u00a0programmes\u00a0to its staff.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement following the meeting, the association described the engagement as the first step in a wider strategy to build relationships with regulators and industry stakeholders.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This visit marks the beginning of a broader <strong>engagement strategy <\/strong>as we continue meeting with key industry stakeholders and regulatory bodies to introduce our programmes and build partnerships that will positively impact the gaming industry.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The association also thanked Karimi and his team for their support during the visit:\u00a0&#8220;From the ease of securing the appointment, to the <strong>professionalism<\/strong> of the staff who welcomed us, and the valuable time and attention given to us by the director general\u00a0Mr\u00a0Peter Maina Karimi, we left feeling genuinely supported and encouraged.
