South Africa.- The Gauteng Gambling Board (GGB)<\/strong> has educated young people on the risks of illegal gambling and the importance of responsible gambling during a youth awareness and empowerment workshop held at Molambo Community Hall <\/strong>in Saulsville<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme, held on Friday, June 26, brought together the GGB, the Gauteng Liquor Board<\/strong>, and other stakeholders as part of a collaborative initiative aimed at equipping young people with knowledge to make informed decisions and avoid harmful behaviours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the workshop, GGB officials talked about the dangers associated with illegal gambling, including the absence of consumer protection, the increased risk of fraud and exploitation, and the legal consequences of participating in unlicensed gambling activities. Participants were also encouraged to gamble only through licensed operators and to seek help if gambling begins to negatively affect their finances, education or personal relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regulator urged attendees to set spending limits and view gambling as a form of entertainment rather than a source of income. The workshop aligned with broader provincial initiatives focused on educating young people on responsible choices. Discussions also covered liquor awareness and youth empowerment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the GGB, educating young people before harmful gambling habits develop remains an important component of preventing gambling-related harm. The board said awareness campaigns help communities identify illegal gambling activities, understand the benefits of using licensed operators and promote responsible participation among adults who choose to gamble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The board added that it will continue working with government departments and other stakeholders to deliver education and awareness programmes that \u201cbuild informed and resilient communities\u201d across Gauteng.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t
