The NWGB promoted responsible gambling as an important element of responsible financial decision-making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

South Africa.- The North West Gambling Board (NWGB)<\/strong> has participated in two public engagement programmes aimed at promoting responsible gambling and supporting youth economic development through entrepreneurship training in the North West Province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regulator first joined government departments and other stakeholders at the Youth Cooperatives and Empowerment Seminar<\/strong> held at the Gelukspan Multi-Purpose Centre<\/strong> on Thursday, June 25, where young entrepreneurs received training on establishing and managing sustainable businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seminar focused on the formation of cooperatives, access to funding opportunities, business incubation, market access, financial management and regulatory compliance. Participants were also encouraged to build businesses based on accountability, sound financial planning and long-term sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the programme, the NWGB promoted responsible gambling as an important element of responsible financial decision-making. Board representatives discussed the need to understand gambling-related risks, avoid excessive gambling, and ensure that gambling does not interfere with business operations, employment or household finances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later the same day, the Board reported partnering with the Department of Education to host a responsible gambling awareness session for employees at PH Moeketsi Agricultural High School<\/strong> in Taung<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the session, participants were educated on responsible gambling, recognising the warning signs of problem gambling, and accessing counselling and support services for individuals affected by gambling-related harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials also discussed practical responsible gambling measures, including setting spending and time limits before gambling, avoiding gambling with borrowed money, understanding that gambling outcomes are based on chance, and seeking help when gambling begins to negatively affect personal finances, family relationships or work performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two engagements form part of the NWGB\u2019s ongoing public awareness activities during Youth Month<\/strong>, aimed at promoting responsible gambling while supporting youth development and financial responsibility across the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
