{"id":27478,"date":"2026-06-24T19:46:34","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T22:46:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/?p=27478"},"modified":"2026-06-25T05:57:13","modified_gmt":"2026-06-25T08:57:13","slug":"ghanas-nla-and-lottery-retailers-reaffirm-commitment-to-industry-growth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/ghanas-nla-and-lottery-retailers-reaffirm-commitment-to-industry-growth","title":{"rendered":"Ghana&#8217;s NLA and lottery retailers reaffirm commitment to industry growth during stakeholder discussions\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Meeting addresses operational challenges, illegal lotto&nbsp;concerns&nbsp;and ongoing efforts to strengthen Ghana&#8217;s lottery sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Ghana.- Ghana&#8217;s National Lottery Authority (NLA) and <strong>lottery retailers<\/strong> have reaffirmed their commitment to working together to support the continued growth of the country&#8217;s lottery industry following talks on operational challenges and opportunities facing the sector.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Key issues affecting Ghana&#8217;s lottery sector, including board representation, <strong>illegal lotto operations<\/strong> and obsolete terminals, were highlighted during a meeting on June 18 between representatives of the Greater Accra Association of Lotto Marketing Companies (LMCs), led by chairman Justice Appiah, and NLA director-general Mohammed Abdul-Salam and his management team.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the NLA, the LMCs raised issues affecting their operations, including the lack of representation on the NLA Governing Board, the impact of <strong>online gaming <\/strong>on lottery&nbsp;sales&nbsp;and the dissolution of the Lotto Court.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other concerns raised included inadequate advertising, the&nbsp;unauthorised&nbsp;use of the NLA logo by Private Lotto Operators (PLOs), obsolete terminals in the&nbsp;market&nbsp;and network connectivity challenges.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Responding to the concerns, Abdul-Salam said management was working tirelessly to address the challenges confronting the business.
