South Africa.- The National Lotteries Commission (NLC)<\/strong> has continued its outreach efforts in the Eastern Cape, hosting an education and awareness workshop at Die Tuishuise and Victoria Manor in Cradock<\/strong>, located within the Inxuba Yethemba Local Municipality<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session brought together representatives of civil society organisations and community groups to discuss the NLC\u2019s regulatory responsibilities and funding opportunities available through the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF)<\/strong>. Participants also received guidance on the requirements and procedures involved in applying for grant funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the NLC, the Cradock workshop was designed to strengthen understanding of the commission\u2019s role and equip organisations with practical guidance on the application process. Topics included funding eligibility, compliance requirements and the documentation needed when submitting grant applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NLC distributes funding generated through South Africa\u2019s National Lottery to organisations operating in sectors such as charities, sport and recreation, arts, culture and national heritage. Eligible applicants include registered non-profit organisations, non-profit companies, public benefit trusts, educational institutions and municipalities, depending on the funding category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training comes as the commission continues to place greater emphasis on compliance and governance within the funding system. Earlier this year, the NLC reported that funding applications are increasingly being assessed based on organisational legitimacy, governance standards, financial management capacity and project delivery plans. The regulator said these measures are intended to strengthen accountability and ensure that funding reaches eligible beneficiaries.<\/p>\n\n\n
