South Africa.- The North West Gambling Board (NWGB)<\/strong> has provided educational and childcare equipment to Little Rabbits Day Care Centre<\/strong> in Oukasie<\/strong>, Brits, through its Socio-Economic Development Fund, as part of the provincial Thuntsha Lerole Accelerated Service Delivery Programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The donation included tables, chairs, sleeping mattresses, a computer, a printer and a writing board. The equipment is intended to benefit the 128 children currently registered at the centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The handover was led by NWGB acting chief executive officer, Mr Boitumelo Qalinge<\/strong>, and the head of department of the North West Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism (DEDECT), Mr Relebohile Mofokane<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Speaking during the event, Qalinge said the board views community investment as an important part of its public mandate. He noted that support for early childhood development, particularly in underserved communities, can help improve learning conditions and provide children with access to basic educational resources at an early stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Qalinge also encouraged consumers to participate only in licensed gambling activities, pointing out that the Socio-Economic Development Fund is financed through contributions from licensed gambling operators to support community development initiatives. He added that illegal operators typically operate outside established consumer protection, governance and responsible gambling frameworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The regulator noted that the donation reflects its continued commitment to community upliftment, education, and the development of sustainable and thriving communities across the North West Province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The NWGB said it will continue using the fund to support similar interventions across the North West Province.
