With no horses added at the final supplementary entry stage, 28 contenders remain in the running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In handicap racing, horses are assigned different weights based on their ratings, with higher-rated runners carrying more weight. The 2026 race will be run under revised handicap conditions<\/strong>: bottom weight has been reduced from 53kg to 52kg and top weight increased from 60kg to 62kg, restoring the full 10kg spread of a traditional open handicap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Legal Counsel<\/strong> was assigned top weight of 62kg. Several contenders prominent in early betting, including Star Major<\/strong>, Note To Self<\/strong>, Wish List<\/strong> and Happy Verse<\/strong>, were also allocated weights.
