The regulator’s latest workshop in Malanje forms part of a nationwide expansion strategy aimed at promoting responsible gambling, strengthening oversight and tackling illegal gaming activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Angola.- The Gaming Supervision Institute (ISJ) <\/strong>has taken its regulatory expansion programme to Malanje, holding a workshop on June 10 focused on raising awareness of gambling laws, combating illegal activity, and promoting responsible gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Franco Mufinda<\/strong>, provincial vice-governor for the Political, Social and Economic Sector, attended the session and said the initiative would contribute to the province’s development. Ricardo Garcia<\/strong>, provincial finance delegate, said eradicating illegal gambling would strengthen state tax revenues, reduce tax evasion and protect citizens, including minors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cl\u00e1udio Paulo<\/strong>, deputy director general of the ISJ, said the institution, established in 2014, is in an active phase of expansion <\/strong>and currently operates six provincial representations across two operational regions. Paulo also promoted responsible gambling practices, particularly among young people, warning that excessive and uncontrolled gambling can lead to financial losses, family\u00a0conflicts\u00a0and social exclusion.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ISJ further warned of the risks posed by clandestine lotteries and other unlicensed games operating in informal markets, noting that such activities may facilitate financial crimes <\/strong>including money laundering and terrorist financing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop in Malanje builds on the ISJ’s broader nationwide expansion strategy. Earlier this year, the regulator launched a provincial outreach\u00a0programme covering Malanje, Benguela, Cabinda<\/a> and\u00a0Hu\u00edla, with further visits planned to\u00a0Zaire\u00a0and Huambo, as part of its strategy to expand regulatory oversight and encourage safer gambling practices across Angola.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop also highlighted provisions of Angola’s Gaming Activity Law, including the prohibition on participation in games of chance by minors under the age of 18 and individuals with proven mental limitations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
