For the week ending May 10, sports betting emerged as the undisputed heavyweight of internet attention in Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The numbers crunched by data journalist <strong>Timonthy Kalyegira<\/strong>, paint a striking picture of online priorities. Ugandans searched \u201c<strong>betPawa\u201d<\/strong> more than anything else &#8211; not once, but in multiple variations, including <strong>\u201cbetPawa \u2013 site\u201d<\/strong> and \u201cLiveScore\u201d. \u201cUganda\u201d and \u201cArsenal\u201d also managed to slip into the top five.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rwanda echoed the same sentiment. The twin queries \u201cbetPawa\u201d and \u201cbetPawa \u2013 site\u201d took the top spots, while \u201cLiveScore\u201d and \u201cYouTube\u201d followed close behind. It&#8217;s not just about placing bets, fans are glued to real-time updates, tracking results like coaches on the sidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile in Kenya, &#8220;Betika&#8221; stormed up the charts, coming in just behind &#8220;Kenya&#8221; itself. That&#8217;s no small feat in a country with over 55 million people and an increasingly digital lifestyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Across all three countries, the journalist noted that betting-related searches dominated, revealing an East Africa not just connected, but hyper-engaged with the high-stakes world of <strong>sports betting.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Betting, basketball and big money<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Adding fuel to this online fire is betPawa&#8217;s recent splashy move into the sports sponsorship space.
