South Africa.- The North West Gambling Board (NWGB)<\/strong> conducted a responsible and underage gambling awareness campaign in Monakato<\/strong> on June 3 and 4 as part of its community outreach programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 3, the board engaged learners and educators at Matlhare Mokautu Secondary School, followed by a second session at Monakato Primary School. At both sites, NWGB representatives educated participants on the risks of underage and illegal gambling, as well as how to identify warning signs, particularly for teachers and parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme continued on June 4 at the Monakato Community Hall at 10:00, where residents participated in an interactive session that included information sharing and community dialogue on responsible gambling practices and compliance with regulated gambling laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The board indicated that the Monakato activities formed part of a broader build-up engagement programme ahead of Thuntsha Lerole Accelerated Service Delivery Phase 6, aimed at bringing government services directly to communities through coordinated, on-site interventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It reiterated that gambling remains strictly restricted to persons aged 18 and older, and encouraged the public to engage only with licensed gambling operators and approved premises in order to comply with the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
