Botswana.- The Botswana Gambling Authority<\/strong> has continued its responsible gambling outreach efforts in Maun<\/strong> through a series of public education activities aimed at increasing awareness of gambling-related risks and safer betting practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On May 17, the authority participated in a Sunday Soccer event organised by the New Jerusalem Social Club<\/strong> in the town, where officials operated an information stall and a mobile clinic. During the activation, members of the public received guidance on responsible gambling behaviour, including advice on recognising harmful gambling patterns and making informed decisions when participating in betting activities.<\/p>\n\n\n

According to information released by the regulator, the outreach further opened conversations on problem gambling and the support services available to those experiencing gambling-related harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event formed part of a wider set of responsible gambling initiatives taking place in Maun during May. A public notice from the authority indicated that officials were scheduled to meet parents and teachers at schools in the area on May 19, followed by a mobile clinic activation at Maun Senior and the Mall Mobile Clinic on May 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development comes after a similar two-day responsible gambling clinic<\/a> in Maun in April, where residents received guidance on gambling risks, self-help tools and counselling support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gambling Authority has expanded its responsible gambling campaigns in recent years as the country\u2019s gambling sector continues to grow under the Gambling Act of 2012<\/strong>. The regulator says promoting safer gambling practices is part of its mandate alongside licensing and compliance oversight.<\/p>\n\n\n
