Brightstar Lottery has signed a multi-year agreement with Lottotech to upgrade the Mauritius National Lottery’s central system and retail terminals.

Mauritius.- Brightstar Lottery has strengthened its long-running partnership with Mauritian operator Lottotech after securing a new multi-year technology agreement aimed at modernising the Mauritius National Lottery’s retail infrastructure.

The agreement, announced on May 12, will see Brightstar deploy an enhanced lottery central system for Lottotech while also replacing existing terminals across the operator’s retail network with the company’s latest RetailerPro S2 hardware platform. London-headquartered Brightstar is a global lottery technology provider listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

The move marks another major technology investment in one of Africa’s more mature regulated lottery markets, as operators across the continent continue accelerating digital transformation and retail modernisation strategies.

Lottotech, which operates more than 600 retail points across Mauritius and Rodrigues, said the upgraded infrastructure would improve flexibility, operational resilience and player engagement.

Moorghen Veeramootoo, Lottotech chief executive officer, said: “Extending Lottotech’s trusted relationship with Brightstar into its third decade through this latest contract underscores our shared commitment to long-term innovation and growth. Enhancing our central system marks a significant milestone for Lottotech, enabling greater agility, flexibility, and disaster tolerance as we enhance the player and retailer experiences while positioning our business for continued success.”

Longstanding partnership drives modernisation

Mauritius has emerged as one of the region’s more established regulated gaming environments, with Lottotech maintaining World Lottery Association Responsible Gaming Level 4 Certification while continuing to expand both retail and digital offerings.

Brightstar has served as Lottotech’s exclusive retail lottery technology partner since the launch of the Mauritius National Lottery in 2008, making the latest deal an extension of a relationship spanning nearly two decades.

The company said its RetailerPro S2 terminals are designed to improve transaction speed and operational efficiency while supporting multiple player-facing displays and additional peripherals aimed at enhancing retail engagement. The terminals will also run Brightstar’s OpenRetail platform, which enables software updates and new features to be deployed across devices through a single code line architecture.

Marco Tasso, Brightstar chief operating officer International and Italy Operations, said: “As Lottotech’s exclusive retail lottery technology partner since its inception, Brightstar has continuously pushed boundaries to revolutionise products that benefit and complement the expectations of today’s modern lottery.”
