The North West Gambling Board has held a risk management workshop for its management and risk champions to enhance the organisation\u2019s ability to detect and mitigate potential regulatory risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

South Africa.- Management officials and risk champions from the North West Gambling Board (NWGB) <\/strong>attended a training session on risk management in the public sector on March 1 at the Mmabatho Palms Hotel Casino Convention Resort<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop focused on the identification, assessment and mitigation of risks within a public sector environment. Participants were provided with tools to strengthen internal control systems, improve decision-making processes and enhance compliance oversight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NWGB said that the initiative is designed to increase the capacity of risk officers and leadership to detect potential threats early, prevent irregularities and improve organisational resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n

Given the strictly regulated nature of the gambling industry, the board noted that effective risk management is critical to ensuring compliance, protecting the public interest and maintaining sector integrity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Risk management has become an increasing focus for gambling regulators in South Africa <\/strong>as the sector faces challenges linked to illegal gambling operations, financial crime risks and evolving gambling technologies. Previous regulatory initiatives by the North West Gambling Board have included internal governance workshops and operational training to strengthen regulatory procedures and enforcement standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Board said that the training will improve operational efficiency, reinforce oversight functions and ensure consistent application of risk management practices across all levels of the organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n
