South Africa.- The North West Gambling Board (NWGB) <\/strong>has participated in the second annual North West Business Summit and Expo 2026<\/strong>, using the platform to highlight regulatory requirements for operators in the gambling sector and raise awareness about illegal gambling activities in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The summit, which opened at Sun City Resort<\/strong> on Tuesday, April 28<\/strong>, brought together entrepreneurs, industry representatives, students and provincial agencies involved in enterprise development. The Board outlined compliance obligations for licensed operators and reinforced responsible gambling measures, while also urging the public to report unlicensed gambling operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the regulator, illegal gambling remains a concern in the province, with enforcement and public awareness campaigns forming a key part of its mandate to curb unlawful operations and strengthen compliance in the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its participation comes just days after the implementation of a newly appointed board, amid ongoing reviews of gambling regulation and taxation frameworks in the North West province aimed at strengthening oversight and improving revenue collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond gambling regulation, the expo featured discussions across sectors including finance, technology and manufacturing. Facilitators addressed challenges facing small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) and explored topics such as funding access, market entry barriers and strategies to strengthen long-term business sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organisers said the two-day programme is designed to connect entrepreneurs with investors, support agencies and industry networks to promote business expansion and long-term growth in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n
