{"id":23496,"date":"2026-04-24T06:23:48","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T09:23:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/?p=23496"},"modified":"2026-04-24T07:13:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T10:13:08","slug":"igsa-opens-africa-hub-in-nigeria-as-gaming-compliance-oversight-strengthens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/igsa-opens-africa-hub-in-nigeria-as-gaming-compliance-oversight-strengthens","title":{"rendered":"IGSA opens Africa hub in Nigeria as gaming compliance oversight strengthens"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>New GSA Africa office positions Nigeria as a regional centre for gaming standards, stronger regulation and cross-border compliance oversight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Nigeria.- <strong>Nigeria<\/strong> is reinforcing its position as one of Africa\u2019s fastest-growing regulated gaming jurisdictions following the launch of GSA Africa, the new regional office of the <strong>International Gaming Standards Association<\/strong> (IGSA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The move reinforces Nigeria\u2019s role in advancing gaming standards, regulatory cooperation and technology-led compliance across the continent, as <strong>African markets<\/strong> continue to mature and formalise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IGSA, the industry\u2019s largest technical standards development organisation focused on gaming standards, regulatory frameworks and technology protocols, said the Lagos-based office will serve as a strategic hub for collaboration with <strong>regulators, operators and suppliers<\/strong> across Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The organisation said the decision to establish GSA Africa in Nigeria reflects the country\u2019s rapid regulatory development and Lagos\u2019 role as the nation\u2019s economic and gaming centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IGSA President Mark Pace said the new office marks an important step in strengthening the association\u2019s presence across Africa. \u201cIGSA is very excited to open GSA Africa, which is dedicated to working with the various gaming industry constituents on the African continent. Nigeria is one of the <strong>fastest-growing regulated gaming jurisdictions<\/strong> in Africa and Lagos is its economic hub, making it the perfect site for our newest office,\u201d said Pace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that the focus would be on helping African markets adopt proven operational standards already used in other regulated jurisdictions. \u201cThrough GSA Africa, IGSA wants to help the African market to adopt and benefit from <strong>technology-based standard processes<\/strong> and procedures, which have been successfully implemented in other jurisdictions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Africa hub wins support<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative has also drawn strong support from the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority as Nigeria continues tightening compliance measures across its licensed gaming sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"190\" height=\"190\" src=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2026\/04\/BASHIRJ-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23503\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Bashir Are says Nigeria\u2019s partnership with GSA Africa will strengthen gaming standards and regulatory oversight across Africa.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Bashir Are, CEO of the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority, said the regulator sees the office as an opportunity to improve oversight and strengthen <strong>industry standards<\/strong>. \u201cIt is an honour to have the GSA Africa office located here in Lagos, Nigeria\u2019s economic, commercial, financial and gaming hub. We look forward to collaborating with GSA Africa to drive adoption of Standards and Best Practices, as a means to grow and better regulate the gaming industry in Africa,\u201d said Are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chairman of the IGSA Board of Directors, Nimish Purohit, said the expansion reflects IGSA\u2019s long-term commitment to building stronger relationships across Africa\u2019s regulated gaming market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Purohit said: \u201cOn behalf of the IGSA Board of Directors, I am very pleased to see IGSA <strong>expand its reach <\/strong>and develop stronger ties to the African gaming market. We are opening GSA Africa in recognition of the growing regulated gaming market on the continent, as well as our desire to partner with regulators, operators and suppliers there in order to understand Africa\u2019s unique challenges and opportunities that can benefit from Standards and Best Practices.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile F. K.
