The donation, delivered through the NLA’s Region Two office on April 17, forms part of the Authority’s broader mandate to channel funds generated from the lottery and gaming sector into public welfare initiatives.

According to the NLA, the wheelchairs are intended to address mobility barriers that affect class attendance and participation. Officials say this aligns with its education support framework, which focuses on students living with disabilities in public institutions.

A regional representative of the Authority, Ateo W. Seebo, said the intervention is aimed at ensuring that physical limitations do not prevent access to education. He added that the initiative reflects how gaming revenues can be reinvested into communities through structured programmes.

The latest donation follows a similar intervention in December 2025, when the NLA, through its Education Empowerment Programme (EEP), distributed wheelchairs and financial aid to students at William V.S. Tubman University and Grand Gedeh Community College. The EEP also covered registration fees for eligible students with disabilities, indicating a continued allocation of gaming-derived funds to education support.

Administrators at Grand Kru Technical College said the equipment will improve movement across campus and reduce absenteeism linked to mobility challenges. Two beneficiaries, identified as Thomas Doe and Joseph K. G. Nyugba, noted that the support will help them remain consistent in their studies.

The NLA’s approach reflects a model seen in several regulated gambling markets, where a portion of proceeds is directed towards social causes. In Liberia, such interventions are used to reinforce public acceptance of the gaming sector while demonstrating accountability in how revenues are redistributed.

The Authority says it will continue similar programmes across other counties, with a focus on education access and support for vulnerable groups.

   See also:

See also: LONASE boosts Senegal lottery access with Kaffrine agency launch

The wheelchairs are intended to address mobility barriers that affect class attendance and participation.

[60016,60012
60977,72,74
post-23110","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business-news","category-west-africa","tag-education-support","tag-gaming","tag-lottery
["GET
