The visit provided first-hand exposure to how gaming systems are independently tested, certified and monitored to meet international compliance standards.

GLI is widely recognised in the global gambling industry for its role in testing gaming equipment, software and digital platforms across regulated markets. Its certification processes are used by regulators and operators to ensure fairness, system integrity and compliance with jurisdictional requirements.

During the tour, NLGRB officials reviewed procedures related to system validation, cybersecurity protocols and data protection measures. These areas are increasingly critical as gambling shifts towards digital and mobile platforms, where risks such as fraud, system manipulation and underage access require stronger regulatory controls.

The roundtable conference brought together regulators, testing laboratories and industry stakeholders to exchange knowledge on evolving trends in gaming oversight. Key areas of focus included responsible gaming frameworks, consumer protection policies and the adoption of advanced compliance technologies.

For Uganda, the engagement is expected to inform regulatory updates and improve enforcement mechanisms within its gambling sector. The country has seen growth in sports betting and online gaming in recent years, prompting the need for stronger supervision aligned with international benchmarks.

Exposure to GLI’s operational standards may support NLGRB in refining licensing requirements, strengthening audit processes and enhancing monitoring systems for operators. It also provides insight into how mature jurisdictions manage compliance across both land-based and online gaming environments.

The regulator has indicated that lessons from the conference will be applied to improve regulatory capacity, with a focus on safeguarding consumers and maintaining transparency in gaming operations.

   See also:

See also: Ugandan gambling regulator confiscates 104 illegal gaming machines in new enforcement drive

The delegation began the programme with a technical tour of GLI’s laboratory facilities in Nevada.

[60013,60019
72
post-23000","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-east-africa","category-regulation-news","tag-gaming
["GET
