Uganda.- The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB)<\/strong> has announced that Reys and Meys SMC Limited<\/strong>, which operated under the BETKUMI<\/strong> brand, has ceased all betting operations in Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a public notice, the regulator advised customers to stop placing bets with immediate effect and to withdraw any remaining balances from the platform. The directive is part of standard consumer protection measures applied when a licensed or previously active operator exits the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the regulator did not publicly state the reason for BETKUMI\u2019s closure, such exits are often linked to licensing issues, financial viability challenges or failure to meet regulatory obligations. Uganda\u2019s gambling market has undergone several policy adjustments in recent years, including stricter licensing processes and increased scrutiny of operators\u2019 conduct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With gambling tax set to rise from 20 per cent to 30 per cent in July 2026, smaller operators may face further pressure on profitability and compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the NLGRB has provided a channel for affected BETKUMI users to report unresolved issues, including difficulties withdrawing funds.<\/p>\n\n\n
