It comes as the current season approaches its final phase, with increased competition for promotion places.

The sponsorship is built around betPawa’s “Locker Room Bonus” system, which directly rewards players after each match win. Under the scheme, players receive ₦56,000 (€33) per victory, with payments processed shortly after games. So far, the company has disbursed more than ₦226m (€133,000) to players, reflecting the scale of its financial involvement in the league.

League officials say the kit donation broadens the impact of the partnership beyond cash incentives. NNL Chairman George Aluo described the arrangement as a departure from traditional sponsorship models, noting that direct player payments and equipment support are uncommon in Nigeria’s domestic football structure.

BetPawa stated that the kit donation fulfils commitments made at the start of its sponsorship agreement, which focus on supporting both player welfare and club needs rather than focusing solely on financial rewards.

The initial partnership deal was signed in 2025 and is valued at several hundred million naira. The agreement introduced a digital system that verifies match data and ensures that bonuses are paid directly to players without delays.

According to league stakeholders, the immediate payment structure has contributed to higher motivation levels among players. It has also given organisers more financial certainty, including the ability to plan end-of-season events such as the Super 4 tournament.

   See also:

See also: betPawa launches Nigeria’s high stakes 1v1 football showdown

NNL Chairman George Aluo described the arrangement as a departure from traditional sponsorship models.

BetPawa has expanded its sponsorship of the Nigeria National League, adding kit donations to its existing "Locker Room Bonus" scheme which directly rewards players with ₦56,000 per match win.
