South Africa.- The Gauteng Gambling Board<\/strong> has reaffirmed its role in supporting economic development in Gauteng, citing its contributions to provincial revenue and regulatory oversight at the Gauteng Investment Conference<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference, held on Friday, April 10<\/strong>, convened government officials, investors and industry stakeholders to discuss investment opportunities, policy direction and strategies to drive sustainable economic growth in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GGB, which operates under the Gauteng Department of Economic Development<\/strong>, said its participation in the conference underscores its \u201ccommitment to supporting initiatives that drive economic growth, attract investment and foster a sustainable and inclusive business environment for all investors\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Board, gambling regulation remains a key contributor to Gauteng\u2019s finances. The authority reported that it generates more than R1bn<\/strong> (\u20ac50m) annually for the provincial fiscus. These funds are allocated to public services and development programmes, including infrastructure and community initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to generating revenue, the Board noted that its mandate focuses on responsible gambling, regulatory oversight and maintaining a transparent and fair industry that encourages investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Africa\u2019s gambling industry is regulated at both national and provincial levels, with the National Gambling Board<\/strong> providing oversight, while provincial regulators like the Gauteng board handle licensing and enforcement within their respective jurisdictions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gauteng remains one of the country\u2019s largest gambling markets, with activity driven by casinos, betting shops and limited payout machines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Board maintains that its dual role as regulator and economic contributor positions it as a key stakeholder in both governance and economic development within the province\u2019s gambling sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
