Moja Rwanda Limited has been appointed to operate the National Lottery after the previous licence holder lost its operating rights in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Rwanda.- Moja Rwanda Limited <\/strong>has been appointed as the new operator of the country\u2019s National Lottery <\/strong>following a selection process overseen by the Rwanda Development Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The appointment was made official on April 3, with Moja Rwanda Limited set to operate the national lottery after signing an agreement with the government<\/strong>, following Cabinet approval of the operating agreement on April 2, according to The New Times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The move follows the revocation of the previous operating licence held by Inzozi Lotto<\/a>, which was operated by Carousel Ltd. The licence was terminated in October 2025 by the National Lottery and Gambling Commission under the Rwanda Development Board after the operator failed to meet contractual and regulatory obligations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, the Rwanda National Lottery has been without an operator since October 2025 while authorities sought a new operator. At the time, regulators said the selection of a new operator would be \u201cguided by transparency, accountability and protection<\/strong> of the public interest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The national lottery was launched in 2021 to support the development of professional sports in Rwanda. Proceeds from the lottery are directed to the Ministry of Sports of Rwanda to fund sports development initiatives<\/strong> in line with Rwanda\u2019s Sports Development Policy, aimed at nurturing athletes to compete at national and international levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Moja Rwanda Limited now appointed, the national lottery is expected to resume operations <\/strong>following the earlier licence revocation. <\/p>\n\n\n
