Morocco.- Morocco\u2019s national lottery and sports betting operator, La Marocaine des Jeux et des Sports (MDJS), has renewed its international security certifications<\/strong>, reaffirming its commitment to global standards for data protection, cybersecurity and operational integrity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organisation announced that its certifications under the ISO\/IEC 27001:2022 and the World Lottery Association <\/strong>Security Control Standard (WLA-SCS) had been successfully renewed following an independent audit conducted by Bureau Veritas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ISO\/IEC 27001:2022 framework is widely recognised as the global benchmark<\/strong> for information security management systems. Developed by the International Organisation for Standardisation and the International Electrotechnical Commission, the standard provides organisations with a structured framework<\/strong> to identify cybersecurity risks, protect sensitive information and maintain secure operational systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For lottery operators, certification under ISO\/IEC 27001 confirms that strict processes are in place to safeguard critical infrastructure<\/strong>, including lottery platforms, player data and transaction systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside this, the World Lottery Association Security Control Standard provides a sector-specific framework <\/strong>designed for lottery and sports betting operators, focusing on cybersecurity, operational resilience and the protection of gaming-related information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MDJS said: \u201cThe version revised in 2024 strengthens requirements in cybersecurity, operational resilience <\/strong>and protection of sensitive data linked to lottery and betting activities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The audit assessed the organisation\u2019s Information Security Management System across several operational areas, including development, marketing, sales and operational processes. MDJS said the renewal of the certifications confirms the continued implementation of best practices<\/strong> in data and risk management across its operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Global best practices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The certifications are valid for three years, with annual surveillance audits required to ensure continued compliance<\/strong> with international standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MDJS also highlighted its long-standing commitment to global best practices, noting that the organisation became the first gaming institution in Africa<\/strong> and the 21st worldwide to obtain both ISO 27001 and WLA security certification in 2005 and has maintained these standards since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Morocco\u2019s national lottery operator, MDJS oversees lottery and sports betting activities across the country, with proceeds supporting sports development<\/strong> through Morocco\u2019s National Fund for the Development of Sport (FNDS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest certification renewal reinforces Morocco\u2019s position among African markets prioritising integrity, cybersecurity and strong governance within the regulated lottery sector.<\/p>\n\n\n
