The exercise will facilitate on-the-ground verification by both players and enforcement teams.

Ghana.- Ghana’s National Lottery Authority (NLA) has announced a mandatory registration exercise for all lotto agents and writers operating under licensed private lotto operators in the country. The move aims to tighten compliance and improve oversight across the country’s lottery sector.

According to a public notice dated March 28, 2026, the exercise will begin on Wednesday, April 1, and will be carried out in partnership with the Concerned Lotto Agents Association of Ghana (CLAAG).

The NLA stated that all agents and writers must complete their registration through a designated online platform. Upon successful registration, participants will receive an official sticker, which must be visibly displayed at their kiosks or sales points. This measure is expected to support on-the-ground verification by both players and enforcement teams.

The authority further indicated that a compliance team will be deployed to monitor adherence during and after the registration period. Any agent or writer who fails to register will be barred from selling lotto or lottery-related products once the process is completed.

The directive aligns with ongoing efforts by the NLA to formalise segments of Ghana’s lottery market, particularly private lotto operations that have faced scrutiny over compliance lapses. The involvement of the Concerned Lotto Agents Association of Ghana (CLAAG) suggests coordination with agent networks to improve participation and enforcement.
