Ugandan bookmaker settles tournament wagers after football\u2019s governing body reversed the AFCON final result following a controversial dispute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Uganda.- Ugandan bookmaker Gal Sport Betting <\/strong>(GSB) has confirmed it will pay out wagers placed on Morocco to win the Africa Cup of Nations<\/strong> (AFCON) after a dramatic ruling by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) overturned the tournament\u2019s original outcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision came after the Senegal national football team were initially declared winners of the final against the Morocco national football team, but a post-match dispute prompted CAF\u2019s Appeals Board to review the result<\/strong> and award Morocco<\/strong> a 3\u20130 victory, confirming the North African side as champions and allowing bookmakers to settle outstanding betting markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GSB said all 1X2 bets backing Morocco to win the tournament will be settled in full, with payouts now being processed for customers<\/strong> who backed the team during the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amit Lodha, Country Manager at GSB Uganda, said the move was intended to reinforce trust between operators and bettors<\/strong> in the sports wagering market. “Moments like this define who we are as a brand. Our customers trust us not just to offer great odds, but to do what\u2019s right. Paying out on Morocco is about honouring that trust,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official ruling confirmed Morocco – known as the Atlas Lions – as AFCON champions, enabling bookmakers<\/strong> to settle outright betting markets based on the revised tournament outcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GSB said the payout decision reflects its long-standing commitment to “fairness and transparency” in the betting sector. GSB Uganda operates both online betting services and a network of retail outlets<\/strong> across Uganda and is licensed by the country\u2019s National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AFCON ruling followed a chaotic final in which Senegal walked off the pitch for around 14 minutes in protest of a penalty decision awarded to Morocco before returning to complete the match and win 1\u20130 after extra time. CAF later ruled that the walk-off violated tournament regulations,<\/strong> leading to the result being overturned and the title awarded to Morocco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senegal has since filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport, meaning the controversy surrounding the AFCON final could still face further legal review.<\/p>\n\n\n
