Kenya.- Betika held the third edition of its Meru Football Challenge<\/strong>, reinforcing its community-focused strategy in Kenya through a multi-week football tournament aimed at expanding local participation<\/strong> and strengthening its presence in regional markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Staged in Meru County, the competition ran from early March and concluded in late March, progressing from group stages to knockout rounds <\/strong>and finals. The tournament featured both men\u2019s and women\u2019s categories, drawing local teams and supporters in a structured format built around competitive play <\/strong>and community turnout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Betika said: \u201cFrom the intensity on the pitch to the unwavering support in the stands, it was a true celebration of community and sport<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tournament had a tiered prize<\/strong> structure, with Betika offering equal payouts for the men\u2019s and women\u2019s games<\/strong>. Winning teams from each of the categories received KES1m (\u20ac7,100), while second-place finishers earned KES500,000 (\u20ac3,550) and third-place teams took home KES250,000 (\u20ac1,775).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The equal prize model reflects a broader shift among operators in East Africa, where community-led activations are increasingly used to align commercial objectives <\/strong>with inclusion and brand positioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
