The SARGF team expanded on behavioural patterns by explaining three broad categories of gamblers: individuals who gamble in moderation, social gamblers who set limits and problem gamblers who experience difficulty controlling their habits. The organisation emphasised that gambling addiction is a recognised behavioural disorder but can be managed with timely support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both organisations highlighted the availability of support systems. SARGF operates a national helpline offering free counselling and referral services for individuals affected by gambling addiction. Employees were informed that assistance is accessible through the toll-free number 0800 006 008<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The workshop also reinforced regulatory compliance and reporting mechanisms. Participants were encouraged to report suspected illegal gambling activities to law enforcement or directly to NWGB through its official communication channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The engagement aligns with established regulatory mandates to ensure a safer gambling environment in South Africa. Industry stakeholders, including regulators and support organisations, continue to prioritise awareness campaigns within workplaces and communities as part of harm reduction strategies.
