South Africa.- The North West Gambling Board<\/strong>, in collaboration with the National Gambling Board of South Africa<\/strong>, has officially launched a week-long Underage Gambling Awareness Campaign<\/strong> in the city of Matlosana Local Municipality<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campaign kickstarted in Kanana<\/strong> on Monday March 16<\/strong>, where the group held sessions at Atamelang Primary School<\/strong>, Tshebedisano<\/strong> Secondary School<\/strong> and Kanana Primary School<\/strong>. Officials from both boards spoke to the learners about the risks associated with underage gambling, the importance of making informed decisions and the legal restrictions surrounding gambling activities for minors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also highlighted the potential social and psychological impacts of gambling and encouraged learners to adopt responsible behaviours while staying focused on their education. Some learners revealed that they had gambled to earn income at tuckshops or within school environments, but after the sessions, they pledged to stop, noting a better understanding of the consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On day two, the campaign moved to Reahola Primary School<\/strong> and Matlhaleng Secondary School<\/strong> in Klerksdorp<\/strong>, further engaging learners on the dangers of underage gambling and reinforcing responsible choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friday March 20<\/strong> is set to mark the final day of the programme, bringing the week-long awareness drive to a close after engagements across multiple schools in the municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n
