Uganda.- The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB)<\/strong> held a media engagement in Gulu Town<\/strong> with journalists from Northern Uganda <\/strong>and the West Nile region<\/strong> on Friday, March 13<\/strong>, to discuss responsible gaming and public awareness about gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Board said the meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation with media practitioners so that information about responsible gaming and gambling regulation reaches communities across the region. It also highlighted the role of the media in providing accurate information to the public about gambling operations and regulatory measures within the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gulu serves as a key media hub for Northern Uganda and the West Nile region, where local radio stations and community media outlets remain an important source of information for many residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts to promote responsible participation in gaming and to ensure communities are aware of their rights and the legal framework governing gambling. NLGRB officials emphasised that legal provisions must be upheld, including the ban on minors participating in any form of gaming. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Journalists were urged to collaborate with the regulator in delivering timely, reliable information that supports public education and awareness campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting took place against the backdrop of intensified crackdowns on unlicensed gambling. As authorities confiscate and destroy illegal slot machines and arrest non-compliant operators, they urged the media to keep the public informed about these actions and the risks of engaging in illegal gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants at the engagement pledged to work closely with the NLGRB, promising to support the Board\u2019s initiatives and amplify responsible gaming messages through their outlets.<\/p>\n\n\n
