Induction introduces newly appointed members to the regulator\u2019s governance role and oversight of Zimbabwe\u2019s gambling sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Zimbabwe.- The Zimbabwe Lotteries and Gaming Board<\/strong> (LGB) has inducted newly appointed board members during a training workshop aimed at preparing them to oversee the country\u2019s gambling<\/strong> and lottery <\/strong>activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New board members and staff gathered for the three-day programme, which focused on governance, oversight<\/strong> and how the regulator operates. Eugenia Chidhakwa, Chairperson of the LGB, opened the workshop, welcoming the incoming members <\/strong>and setting the tone for the training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The LGB, established under the Lotteries and Gaming Act<\/strong>, falls under the portfolio of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage<\/strong>, which oversees the regulator\u2019s governance and policy direction. The ministry said: \u201cThe Chairman of the Lotteries and Gaming Board, Dr Eugenia Chidhakwa today welcomed newly appointed Board Members to the induction workshop<\/strong> at Mana Resort in Harare.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chidhakwa emphasised the importance of the appointments, pointing to the experience and reputation <\/strong>of the individuals selected to serve on the board. She said the selection is testament to their professional standing, integrity and trustworthiness<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New chapter begins<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The LGB keeps watch over casinos, sports betting operators<\/strong>, bookmakers and lottery activities across Zimbabwe. It also promotes responsible gambling and works to make sure operators comply with national laws and regulations<\/strong> as the country\u2019s gaming market continues to expand<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The induction programme was described as a turning point<\/strong> for the board by Chidhakwa as it prepares to guide the sector. The Ministry said: \u201cShe said the induction was the beginning of a new chapter, one defined by commitment, strategic clarity<\/strong> and ethical leadership.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the sessions, participants were introduced to the Board\u2019s core duties<\/strong> – from licensing operators to monitoring compliance<\/strong> and taking action where regulations are breached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry added: \u201cDr Chidhakwa informed the new board members that they are expected to regulate<\/strong> and supervise gaming activities, protect the public interest<\/strong>, promote responsible gaming and ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory frameworks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Board, the induction is meant to get new members up to speed on the work ahead and the responsibilities<\/strong> that come with overseeing the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n
