The meeting brought together ISJ Deputy Director-General Cl\u00e1udio Paulo and Viana Municipal Administrator Dem\u00e9trio de Sep\u00falveda to align <strong>strategies<\/strong> to improve monitoring and <strong>oversight<\/strong> of gambling activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ISJ said: \u201cIllegal gambling has significant impacts, both on the <strong>economic and social<\/strong> level, affecting the state, the formal economy and families.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strengthening gambling oversight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Officials discussed strengthening cooperation between <strong>national regulators<\/strong> and municipal authorities to identify and curb illicit gambling operations operating outside Angola\u2019s <strong>legal framework<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlicensed gambling can have significant economic and social consequences, including <strong>lost tax revenue<\/strong> for the state, unfair competition for licensed operators and a lack of <strong>protection<\/strong> for players, the regulator said. The regulator also warned that unregulated gambling environments typically lack <strong>safeguards<\/strong> such as age verification, betting limits and <strong>self-exclusion tools <\/strong>designed to support responsible gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Authorities further noted that illegal gambling operations can contribute to <strong>organised crime<\/strong> and increase the risk of gambling addiction.
