Angola.- Angola\u2019s Institute for Gaming Supervision (ISJ)<\/strong> has moved to strengthen cooperation<\/strong> with authorities in the major municipality of Viana as part of efforts to support the country\u2019s legal gambling <\/strong>industry while cracking down on illegal gaming activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ISJ announced closer coordination with municipal officials in Viana following a recent working meeting <\/strong>aimed at strengthening efforts to prevent and combat illegal gambling<\/strong>. The meeting brought together ISJ Deputy Director-General Cl\u00e1udio Paulo and Viana Municipal Administrator Dem\u00e9trio de Sep\u00falveda to align strategies<\/strong> to improve monitoring and oversight<\/strong> of gambling activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ISJ said: \u201cIllegal gambling has significant impacts, both on the economic and social<\/strong> level, affecting the state, the formal economy and families.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strengthening gambling oversight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Officials discussed strengthening cooperation between national regulators<\/strong> and municipal authorities to identify and curb illicit gambling operations operating outside Angola\u2019s legal framework<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlicensed gambling can have significant economic and social consequences, including lost tax revenue<\/strong> for the state, unfair competition for licensed operators and a lack of protection<\/strong> for players, the regulator said. The regulator also warned that unregulated gambling environments typically lack safeguards<\/strong> such as age verification, betting limits and self-exclusion tools <\/strong>designed to support responsible gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities further noted that illegal gambling operations can contribute to organised crime<\/strong> and increase the risk of gambling addiction. The initiative forms part of broader efforts<\/strong> by the ISJ to strengthen oversight of Angola\u2019s gaming sector.<\/p>\n\n\n
