Namibia.- The Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA)<\/strong> and the Gambling Board of Namibia<\/strong> have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at improving regulatory coordination, compliance monitoring and revenue protection in the country\u2019s gambling industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pact sets out a structure for collaboration between Namibia\u2019s tax authority and the gambling regulator, particularly in matters relating to taxation, licensing and the importation of gaming equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the arrangement, the two institutions will share information and coordinate enforcement activities to ensure that gambling operators comply with national regulations and financial obligations. Authorities say the collaboration will also help identify gaps in oversight that could lead to revenue losses or unregulated gambling activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership is expected to improve the monitoring of gambling equipment entering Namibia, especially gaming machines imported through ports and border entry points. NamRA oversees customs processes at these points, while the Board is responsible for approving gaming devices used in licensed establishments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through coordinated efforts, the agencies intend to ensure that all gaming equipment being imported is declared, inspected and authorised before being used in casinos or betting venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The alliance will also support enforcement against illegal gambling operations, strengthen compliance checks on operators and improve verification of financial records linked to gambling activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement includes provisions for periodic reviews of its implementation, allowing both institutions to assess its effectiveness and adjust cooperation measures where necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development comes amid growth in the Namibian gambling sector, which has seen an expansion of casinos and betting outlets in recent years, as well as a corresponding increase in contributions to the state coffers.<\/p>\n\n\n
