International Women\u2019s Day<\/strong>, observed annually on March 8, celebrated the achievements of women worldwide and highlighted ongoing efforts to advance gender equality. WiGA, founded in September 2023 by industry executive Lois Bright<\/strong>, was established to connect and support women working across the continent\u2019s gaming and betting sector <\/strong>through mentorship, networking and leadership<\/strong> opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In a message shared to mark the global <\/strong>observance, WiGA referenced this year\u2019s International Women\u2019s Day theme, \u201cGive to Gain,\u201d emphasising the importance of collaboration<\/strong> and knowledge sharing within the industry. The organisation said its members are based in more than 21 African countries, including Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana and Botswana, highlighting the pan-continental reach<\/strong> of its growing professional network<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The organisation said: \u201cIn just a short time, WiGA has grown to over 850 members across 21 countries – a network<\/strong> of women (and allies) who are each contributing in their own unique <\/strong>way to the growth <\/strong>and future of the African gaming industry.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n The group noted that its members represent a wide range<\/strong> of roles across the sector, including professionals mentoring others, individuals developing their careers and leaders<\/strong> running companies within the gaming industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to the organisation, the \u201cGive to Gain\u201d theme highlights the importance of creating opportunities<\/strong> for others across the industry. \u201cProgress happens when we give – our time, our knowledge, our support and our belief in one another. Because when women are given opportunities, mentorship and space to lead, everyone gains,” added WiGA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n WiGA also acknowledged several partners<\/strong> supporting its initiatives, including mentorship and leadership organisations working with the group to create professional development <\/strong>opportunities for women in the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The organisation said building stronger networks and leadership pathways for women remains central to its mission <\/strong>as Africa\u2019s gaming industry continues to grow.<\/p>\n\n\nMentorship and leadership<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
