A strong group of runners from South Africa will arrive on the island, adding depth to the Mauritian racing pool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Mauritius.- Mauritius horse-racing <\/strong>is set for a boost as a new group of thoroughbred <\/strong>runners from South Africa prepares to join the island\u2019s racing pool<\/strong>, a development expected to strengthen race fields and support betting interest<\/strong> ahead of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The horses are scheduled to arrive from Cape Town, with several Mauritian trainers<\/strong> preparing to add the runners to their stables, according to a report by SAHorseracing. \u201cA strong and varied group <\/strong>of runners is set to arrive from Cape Town this weekend,\u201d stated the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The 2026 Mauritius horse-racing season<\/strong> is scheduled to begin on April 25 at the Champ de Mars racecourse, with more than 27 race meetings<\/strong> planned over several months. The incoming consignment includes horses across multiple age groups and merit-rating bands<\/strong>, ranging from established<\/strong> performers to younger prospects expected to develop through local competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Mauritian trainers are all set to receive the incoming<\/strong> horses once they arrive on the island. Trainer Paul Kune<\/strong> is expected to add Fear of Fire, Mount Augustus and One Cape to his stable, while the Gujadhur stable<\/strong> will receive Boom Town, Makazole and View of the World.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The group includes established performers rated above the 100 mark <\/strong>alongside progressive<\/strong> three-year-olds and an unraced prospect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Other runners are scheduled to join Vincent Allet<\/strong>, including Bombardier Boy, Ibhele, Mfethu, Nou Praat Jy and Ready to Charge, while Vinod Ruhee <\/strong>is expected to receive Jet Blackfire, Lomu, Military Force and World Warrior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Additional arrivals <\/strong>include Dance to the Sun, Gimmeanotherchance and That\u2019ll B The Day for Alain Nagadoo, as well as Firelighter, La Cadi\u00e8re d\u2019Azur and Pennsylvania for C\u00e9dric Daby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Trainer Jean-Michel Awotar<\/strong> is also set to receive several horses, including Call Me Wild, Carnarvon, Isikwishikwishi, Old Fashioned, Siriano, Underworld and The Grey King. The shipment <\/strong>also includes Digital Asset and Symbolic Gesture for Samraj Mootien, while Future Swing, rated 116 in South Africa, is scheduled to join Rameshwar Gujadhur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Horse racing in Mauritius is closely linked to pari-mutuel betting<\/strong>, where betting pools are formed around each race and winnings are shared among successful bettors.
