Kenya.- The Kenya Revenue Authority<\/strong> (KRA) has issued a reminder to gambling firms in Kenya to renew their licences before Monday, June 30, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest directive affects all betting companies registered by the Betting Control and Licence Board<\/strong> (BCLB) in 2024\/2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To renew their permits, KRA requires betting firms to provide updated information, including their iTax profile, physical company location and contact details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Firms are also required to have settled all tax obligations and filed returns for both the company and its directors. They must also provide necessary records for ongoing tax audits and grant full access to their systems for audit purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other documents the betting companies must submit include tax compliance certificates for the company and its directors. They must also have integrated their systems with KRA for daily tax remittances and data transmission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The KRA said in the memo: “The relevant documents\/records should be delivered to the KRA Offices at Ushuru Pension Plaza, Muthangari Drive or to the official email addresses of the relationship managers. KRA remains committed to support all taxpayers to comply with their tax obligations in a timely and efficient manner. All taxpayers are encouraged to act promptly and take advantage of the tax amnesty before June 30, 2025 deadline.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The notice represents KRA’s contribution to the broader regulatory efforts to reform the betting industry, which is increasingly being viewed as a public health issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other regulatory agencies in Kenya are also implementing stricter measures to enforce responsible gaming practices. For example, the BCLB has banned gambling ads<\/a> in the country for 30 days<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Communications Authority of Kenya<\/strong> (CAK) is also working on blocking and deactivating all offshore unlicensed gambling platforms, while the Media Council of Kenya<\/strong> (MCK) has been tasked with developing new broadcasting codes that incorporate responsible gambling standards.<\/p>\n\n\n
