The measure allows operators to settle <strong>past tax liabilities<\/strong>, including gaming tax, while waiving all accumulated interest and penalties &#8211; though the principal tax amounts still must be paid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Operators with unpaid principal domestic tax obligations as of <strong>30 June 2024<\/strong> can take advantage of the relief by <strong>30 June 2026<\/strong>. The measure covers multiple taxes, with gaming tax &#8211; which applies to licensed <strong>betting companies, casinos<\/strong> and other gaming operators &#8211; specifically included.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>URA Commissioner General <strong>John Rujoki Musinguzi <\/strong>said at the announcement, according to the Monitor: \u201cThe new waiver is another opportunity the<strong> government <\/strong>has given to taxpayers who have tax arrears to settle their liabilities without worrying about the burden of interest and penalties.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For gambling operators, the relief provides a chance to regain <strong>financial flexibility<\/strong>, potentially allowing businesses to focus resources on technology, <strong>customer services<\/strong> and growth initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The relief applies only to past obligations. Businesses must continue to meet <strong>ongoing tax requirements<\/strong>, including gaming tax for <strong>future revenue<\/strong>. Other taxes, such as customs duties, are not included.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the June 2026 deadline approaching, URA is urging operators to <strong>act quickly<\/strong>.
