Approaching its first full year of public operations, the lottery brings games closer to communities and strengthens economic and social impact. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Tanzania.- Tanzania\u2019s National Lottery<\/strong> is hitting a major growth<\/strong> milestone under Ithuba Tanzania, with games now available at licensed retail agents<\/strong> in cities and towns nationwide and digital access enabled through major platforms<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Approaching its first full year of nationwide rollout<\/strong>, and operating under an eight-year mandate as the licensed operator of Tanzania\u2019s National Lottery, Ithuba is laying the groundwork for modernisation, nationwide expansion<\/strong> and long-term social and economic impact through 2033<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April 2025, Ithuba began rolling out public operations<\/strong> across the country and Director Kelvin Koka highlighted the lottery\u2019s economic<\/strong> and social potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe National Lottery is set to become a key driver<\/strong> of the country\u2019s economic growth and social progress, particularly through the taxes<\/strong> and commissions generated by gaming activities,\u201d said Koka, according to the Daily News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of Ithuba\u2019s first major initiatives was a strategic partnership<\/strong> with the Tanzania Posts Corporation (TPC) announced in 2025, placing lottery terminals and play slips in 207 post outlets<\/strong> nationwide, reaching both urban and some rural communities. The operator also collaborated with Mixx by Yas, HaloPesa and Selcom Tanzania, enabling users to buy tickets online <\/strong>or via mobile money<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Economic and social impact<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Government officials have emphasised the lottery\u2019s broader economic and social<\/strong> benefits. Deputy Minister of Finance Hamad Chande highlighted its role in supporting Tanzanians through broader participation and revenue generation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Data from the Gaming Board of Tanzania shows that the sector is contributing substantial revenue and supporting employment<\/strong>, with more than TZS260.21bn (\u20ac101m) collected in four years under the board\u2019s oversight. Ithuba, which began public operations in April 2025 with \u20ac18.5m in projected investments<\/strong>, is a key driver of this growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The combination of digital expansion, strengthened retail access and strategic partnerships has accelerated participation, broadened reach and helped rebuild confidence since the relaunch last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this momentum, Tanzania\u2019s National Lottery is emerging as more than just a game – it is reinventing itself as an accessible<\/strong>, inclusive and nationally impactful <\/strong>platform in 2026 and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n
