The widespread adoption of mobile wallets is supporting rapid growth in <strong>digital betting<\/strong>, making online gaming more accessible and<strong> inclusive<\/strong> across urban and rural communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mobile money has become the backbone of <strong>financial transactions<\/strong> in Uganda. Platforms like MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money, alongside new licensed <strong>fintech providers<\/strong> such as NALA, Wave and Chipper Cash, allow users to deposit and withdraw funds <strong>instantly<\/strong>, removing barriers for participation in online betting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Significant regulatory milestones have reinforced this trend. <strong>NALA<\/strong> recently secured Payment Service Provider (PSP) and Payment System Operator (PSO) licences from the <strong>Bank of Uganda<\/strong>, adding to its existing 2024 money remittance licence, according to an Ecofin Agency report. \u201cNALA has secured PSP and PSO licenses from the Bank of Uganda, adding to its 2024 Money Remittance licence,\u201d said the report. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fintech drives online betting growth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This licensing positions NALA to expand <strong>regulated payment services<\/strong>, including cross-border transactions and business pay-outs, complementing Uganda\u2019s existing mobile money ecosystem and providing more options for consumers. Analysts say these developments reflect growing <strong>regulatory confidence <\/strong>in fintech innovation and a more competitive payments market, according to Sunrise Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Uganda\u2019s online betting sector, mobile wallets are a <strong>critical enabler<\/strong>, allowing users to fund accounts quickly and <strong>securely<\/strong> without a bank.
