Nigeria.- Clarion Gaming has selected Nigeria-based GamblePause as its Safer Gambling Charity Partner for 2026. The organisation, which focuses on reducing gambling harm in Africa, will partner on key events, including ICE Barcelona from January 20 to 22, iGB Affiliate Barcelona and iGB L!VE London in July.

Clarion Gaming Managing Director Stuart Hunter said the choice reflects GamblePause’s strong track record. He noted: “I am delighted to welcome GamblePause as our Safer Gambling Charity Partner for 2026. GamblePause has evolved from a grassroots awareness initiative into a powerful voice on safer gambling in Africa. Despite being a very young organisation, its output has been phenomenal.”

As part of the agreement, GamblePause will receive high-visibility exposure across event platforms, including show guides, websites, daily bulletins and VIP areas. This exposure aims to connect the group with global industry figures and boost its work across Africa.

GamblePause founder Ladipo Akolade called the partnership a key moment for his team. He said: “Being named Clarion Gaming’s Safer Gambling Charity Partner is an historic milestone for everyone involved with GamblePause, as well as serving as a powerful validation of our work.

“The partnership provides an unrivalled global platform to amplify safer gambling messaging across Africa, strengthens our credibility and enables direct engagement with industry leaders to advance responsible and sustainable gambling practices.”

The move could help GamblePause grow its reach in African countries such as Ghana, Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya, where it offers virtual support. It plans to expand awareness drives, build more recovery options, train operators and regulators and push for better player protections. As Africa’s first provider of free gambling rehabilitation, the group removes cost barriers for those seeking help, including families and young people.

In the past year, the charity reached more than 5,500 people through workshops and online campaigns, and handled more than 3,300 individual support cases through virtual counselling. It also ran programmes at the University of Lagos that educated 23,500 students on risks and prevention.

This development follows the appointment of Peter Kesitilwe, African iGaming Alliance CEO to the Clarion Regulatory Advisory Board.
