The company now operates more than 80 <strong>betting <\/strong>shops and 500 gaming <strong>machines<\/strong>, with additional units and outlets still being deployed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nghipondoka has already invested heavily in <strong>infrastructure<\/strong>, importing several gaming machines to support the <strong>rollout<\/strong>, which he estimates is only 35 to 40 per cent complete, with more locations expected in the coming months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having joined Namibia\u2019s betting and <strong>casino <\/strong>sector as part of a strategic <strong>shift <\/strong>toward self-funded, asset-driven businesses, Nghipondoka\u2019s <strong>diversified<\/strong> empire also spans information and communication technology (ICT), telecoms, construction, property, security, retail, agriculture and financial services. Nghipondoka said the betting market is a \u201c<strong>unique space<\/strong>, requiring only a little capital to enter\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike tender-based operations, the betting business allows his company to invest directly in assets such as machines, enabling <strong>independent <\/strong>operation. \u201cIt is <strong>self-reliant<\/strong> and doesn\u2019t depend on other factors. The approach allows the company to <strong>grow<\/strong> at its own pace. I am not moving away from the tender space but diversifying into a business that I can <strong>control<\/strong>,\u201d said Nghipondoka, according to The Namibian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Digital betting and nationwide expansion boom<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ubetting\u2019s growth isn\u2019t limited to physical outlets. Nghipondoka is also onboarding an <strong>online <\/strong>platform, giving customers the ability to place bets <strong>remotely<\/strong>. Nghipondoka said: \u201cYou can bet even when sleeping or when driving. You don\u2019t need to go into the shop.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the company\u2019s systems are designed to keep players <strong>engaged<\/strong>. \u201cWhen you look at that ratio, whoever walks in there has a 90 per cent chance of <strong>winning<\/strong>. We only take 10 per cent of that. The systems are designed like that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Industry estimates put Ubetting\u2019s monthly <strong>turnover <\/strong>at over N$1.4\u202fm (\u20ac70,000), translating to more than N$17m (\u20ac850,000) annually, according to The Namibian.
