The company marked its renewed promotional push in the sport with a professional boxing event on <strong>November 29<\/strong> at <strong>The Edge Convention Centre in Nairobi<\/strong>. The event, organised in partnership with <strong>Ultra Fighting Series (UFS\u202fBXNG)<\/strong>, featured eight bouts with fighters from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Sweden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kenyan boxer <strong>Consolata\u202fMusanga<\/strong> won the main event, clinching the <strong>Pugilistic Syndicate of Tanzania (PST)<\/strong> Super\u2011Bantamweight women\u2019s title with a unanimous decision over Sweden\u2019s <strong>Sandra\u202fAttermo<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In another key bout, Kenya\u2019s <strong>Javan\u202fBuyu<\/strong> defended his national lightweight title by stopping compatriot <strong>Abdul Hakim<\/strong> in a six\u2011round rematch within three rounds. <strong>Richard Okoth<\/strong> from Kenya knocked out Uganda\u2019s <strong>Bruno Muweezi<\/strong> in the third round of their welterweight contest. Other results included Tanzania\u2019s <strong>Leila\u202fYazidu<\/strong> earning a points win over Uganda\u2019s <strong>Marion\u202fAkankunda<\/strong> in super\u2011featherweight, and <strong>Kevin\u202fGachee<\/strong> winning his professional debut with a knockout in a middleweight fight. Gachee used the bout to highlight men\u2019s mental\u2011health issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his speech at the event, SportPesa CEO <strong>Ronald\u202fKarauri<\/strong> said the company is fully back in supporting boxing. He added that the firm wants to develop fighters from the grassroots level and host more events next year, positioning Kenyan fighters for world\u2011class belts like the WBC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jason\u202fGibson<\/strong>, SportPesa\u2019s Chief Commercial Officer, described the sponsorship as a way to give talented athletes a platform.
