Botswana.- The Botswana Gambling Authority<\/strong> participated in the Champions Cup Horse Race 2025<\/strong> event held on December 13<\/strong> at Ma-Sa Racing Park<\/strong> in Maun<\/strong>. The regulator set up a stall at the event and engaged with attendees, handed out informative materials including brochures and posters, and encouraged responsible gaming practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Authority’s team was available to answer questions from the public, providing guidance on the regulatory framework governing the gambling industry in Botswana. They also used the opportunity to raise awareness about the risks associated with problem gambling and the support services available to those who may be struggling, including the Authority’s helpline and other online resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They encouraged attendees to seek help if they or someone they knew was experiencing problems with gambling. Additionally, the authority engaged with local businesses and stakeholders, exploring ways to collaborate and promote responsible gaming practices across the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acting CEO, Moruntshi Kemorwale<\/strong>, delivered a speech at the event, emphasising the importance of regulating sports like horse racing to prevent illegal gambling, which can drain people’s hard-earned cash. He stressed that regulation helps ensure a safe and fair environment for participants and bettors alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kemorwale also called for greater cooperation between regulators, operators and stakeholders and expressed the readiness of the Gambling Authority to partner with the horse racing industry to promote responsible gambling practices.<\/p>\n\n\n
