Tunisia.- Tunisia is staking its claim in Africa’s fast-growing gaming and esports market. The National Committee for Video Game Development is leading efforts to professionalise the country’s gaming sector and position Tunisia as a growing force in the digital economy.

Set up under the Tunisian Esports Federation (TunESF), the committee is tasked with expanding Tunisia’s video game development industry and supporting emerging studios. TunESF stated that the committee’s goal is to “integrate gaming” into Tunisia’s digital economy. The federation said: “The National Committee for Video Game Development is working to professionalise Tunisia’s gaming sector and strengthen its role in the national digital economy.”

The committee is bringing together developers, entrepreneurs, mentors, policymakers and tech organisations to build a more coordinated ecosystem designed to attract investment. “By uniting developers, startups, educators and policymakers, the committee aims to build a more structured and investment-ready ecosystem for video game creation,” added TunESF.

Its work spans talent development, innovation, infrastructure and industry advocacy, signalling Tunisia’s ambition to expand beyond esports competitions into broader video game development.

The committee also hosts the annual CNGD Summit, a gathering where developers, investors, educators and policymakers swap ideas, tackle industry challenges and shape Tunisia’s gaming roadmap. With a young, tech-savvy population, growing esports infrastructure and a budding indie game community, Tunisia aims to become a leading gaming market in North Africa.

TunESF emphasises that the committee’s work extends far beyond tournaments. “Our mission is to support talent, promote collaboration and ensure that video game development becomes a sustainable and strategic industry in Tunisia,” said the federation.

Although part of an esports federation, the committee is quietly building a bigger gaming industry. By connecting developers, educators and policymakers, it is creating a tighter ecosystem and Tunisia’s video game scene is growing with initiatives underway as the committee looks to expand its impact through 2026 and beyond.

Shaping Tunisia’s gaming future
