The licence, unveiled earlier this month, combines regulatory approval with local banking access and compliance support, providing a comprehensive solution for online casino operators.

The permit provides operators with a comprehensive package, including a verified Liberian bank account for USD and EUR SWIFT transfers, a dedicated AML officer and a formal business address in Liberia. Until now, companies running online casinos had to arrange these elements separately, a process that often took months and failed to yield reliable international banking relationships.

The new model removes those delays. The NLA said in an announcement: “This integrated approach delivers what the sector has long been missing: a licence that is operationally effective from day one.”

There are reports that European and African operators have already contacted the NLA to explore the option, with some describing the integrated banking and compliance package as the main attraction.

For Liberia, the licence means new tax revenue and local jobs in compliance and administration.
