Botswana.- The Botswana Gambling Authority<\/strong> has highlighted regulated gambling as a potential catalyst for economic growth on the first day of the inaugural Botswana Economic Forum 2025<\/strong>, held on November 18<\/strong> at the Gaborone<\/strong> International Conference Centre (GICC)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the event, acting CEO Moruntshi Kemorwale<\/strong> reminded participants about the potential economic benefits of a regulated gaming industry, citing its capacity to create jobs and increase government revenue through licensed casinos, betting houses and gaming platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kemorwale noted that the global gaming industry is expected to generate $188bn<\/strong> this year and encouraged Botswana to position itself to capture a share of this market through responsible gaming regulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He called on more Botswana investors to capitalise on the industry’s opportunities by applying for licences to operate revenue-generating activities such as limited payout machines, SMS competitions and virtual digital games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Botswana Economic Forum convened leaders, investors, policymakers, entrepreneurs and industry innovators from more than 20 countries<\/strong>. The meeting’s resolutions will play a key role in shaping future economic strategies and influencing the country’s growth path as it works towards achieving its Vision 2036 <\/strong>goals.<\/p>\n\n\n
