South Africa.- The Technical and Vocational Education and Training College Governors’ Council (TVETCGC)<\/strong> has signed a memorandum of understanding with the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF)<\/strong> to develop staff training programmes and conduct research into gambling behaviour among young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership was unveiled by TVETCGC’s Secretary-General Sanele Zondi<\/strong> while speaking at the Responsible Gambling Summit 2025<\/strong>. He underscored the severe consequences of students using stipends for online betting, which poses risks to their social and economic wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By collaborating with SARGF, Zondi noted that TVETCGC aims to provide students with a safety net that helps them make informed life choices. He said: “Our colleges are not just centres of learning, they are spaces where skills meet ethics, and where innovation, entrepreneurship and repair services shape the future workforce.”\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zondi urged the gambling industry to join forces in developing a workforce that embodies responsible and ethical practices, while reminding young South Africans that their education and future potential exceed any short-term gains from gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n
