Botswana.- Botswana\u2019s gaming and gambling industry<\/strong> is projected to deliver strong revenue growth<\/strong> exceeding P1bn (\u20ac78m)<\/strong> in the next financial year, highlighting the sector\u2019s growing significance to the economy by attracting investment<\/strong> and providing additional income for the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The projection was revealed by Minister of Trade and Entrepreneurship Tiroeaone Ntsima during the launch of the Motshameko o Phepa (Responsible Play<\/strong>) campaign. \u201cGlobally<\/strong> gambling generates US$500bn yearly, while in Botswana<\/strong> an average of P250m (\u20ac19.5m) is generated annually. Projections indicate this could surpass P1bn (\u20ac78m) in the next financial year<\/strong>,\u201d said Ntsima, according to the Ngami Times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Responsible gambling drives growth<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Alongside strong growth prospects<\/strong>, the government and Gambling Authority are emphasising responsible gambling, showing that industry expansion<\/strong> can go hand-in-hand with protecting players <\/strong>and communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ntsima said: \u201cGambling Authority is not only to regulate<\/strong> but to protect families, safeguard youths and strengthen our communities<\/strong>. Gambling must never compromise the wellbeing of our people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlighting the campaign\u2019s relevance<\/strong> to national goals, he added: \u201cMotshameko o Phepa is timely and speaks to the aspirations of Vision 2036<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Motshameko o Phepa campaign, spearheaded by the Gambling Authority, is a public education initiative designed to reach over 500 sites<\/strong> across Botswana. Launched in September in Francistown, the campaign will run until March next year, demonstrating the government\u2019s commitment<\/strong> to building a gambling industry that is safe, well-regulated<\/strong> and aligned with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To further amplify the campaign, the Gambling Authority unveiled its brand ambassador<\/strong>, world-class athlete Nijel Amos<\/strong>, along with a team of social media influencers, reinforcing the industry\u2019s positive public image and community engagement. <\/p>\n\n\n
